This is the place to go to if you want to see you about model trains or learn about them. I definitely suggest you take your kids. Or if you're a kid at heart. I took my son and he was overjoyed and overwhelmed. For my first time here I was even shocked. As soon as I walked in the door I knew this place was a five-star. I suggest everyone should go here and expecially tried to make a donation to keep this place open. They even gave me information to other places and events. I will continue to go here.
Incredibly impressive layout, detailed to a ludacruis degree, and very very friendly staff, was given a guided tour and people were around that were more than happy to answer my questions. If you have all day and want to see the best model rail road in the area then look no further. My only concern is their 1950s theme might limit their club growth.
Train enthusiastics, as well as anyone else who appreciates intricate beautiful detail of the largest model railroad layout in South Texas, would love this place. It's a real hidden gem located near but off of Hwy 1604, IH 35, & Toepperwein Rd. Miniatures are so sharp & vivid, they enhance your gorgeous photos. Admission is FREE. A good outing where you could bring your family & enjoy the morning/afternoon. Did not take a guided tour of the museum but as I went from one display to the other, either a staff member or posted signs on displays filled me in on some of the facts. Posted info on FB & highly recommend a visit to SAMRA Museum to others.

Has a very awesome model train layout. Model trains travel from San Antonio to fort worth. Lots of tiny details that can be missed if u don't pay attention as u walk through looking at all the different towns
